Three men charged over Blue Mountains gang rape
Police have arrested three men who they believe to be linked to an alleged gang rape that took place in the Blue Mountains in 2012.
Police armed with a search warrant arrived at a house in Hazelbrook at 9.30 on Tuesday morning.
Three men, aged 20, 21 and 22, were arrested on Wednesday.
They were each charged with aggravated sexual assault in company, detaining a person in company and resisting arrest.
The 20-year-old will appear at a children's court on Thursday, while the two older men will appear at Parramatta Local Court.
The current residents were not suspects. The men were arrested at homes in Lawson, Warrimoo and Wentworth Falls.
Detectives said the victim has been extremely brave to come forward
The girl, who was just 15 at the time, said she was gang-raped at a party in the house on Friday, October 26th, 2012.
The men are believed to be part of a gang known as the Blaxland King Crew.
It was not until police began investigating other assaults that the girl came forward.
"Extremely brave, extremely brave," said Det. Insp. Almer.
The tenants who hosted the party where the assault allegedly took place moved out at least two years ago.
Police urge any victim of a sex crime – no matter how long ago - to report it.
"Obviously it was a traumatic incident, and clearly it takes a long time for those matters to heal."
The suspects were taken to the Katoomba police station and investigations will continue.
