Touching video shows police officer helping disabled woman

Heartwarming video of a police officer helping a disabled woman walk home has gone viral online.

Footage taken by a passerby shows the male officer holding the 21-year-old woman’s hand as they walk along an Illinois street.

She had reportedly wondered off from her home and become lost.

Bloomingdale Police Department said they had received a call from a member of the public who saw the woman walking along by her self.

Officer Giovenco rushed to the street to help the woman, who appeared to be very distressed.

“Officer Giovenco was able to calm her down and she advised that she just wanted to walk the “trails”,” Bloomingdale Police Department wrote on their Facebook page.

“She then agreed to walk back to her home and Officer Giovenco held her hand the whole way home, which really seemed to put her at ease.”

The officer has received praise from around the world.
