Hockey sells off the family farm

Joe Hockey has occasionally been accused of allowing Australia to "sell off the farm".

Now he's sold his farm.

The federal treasurer has declared on his pecuniary interest register the sale of one of his two Malanda properties in north Queensland.

Mr Hockey bought 40.7ha of prime cattle land in Diamondvale in 2010.

He added the property to his adjoining 160ha working farm, Platypus Park, which he's held for over a decade and is now rented out.

It is unclear how much the Diamondvale property sold for.
