Arrest over Vic cord attack and car theft

A man has been arrested following a police pursuit after he allegedly tied up a Melbourne woman with electrical cords and stole her BMW.

He allegedly followed the woman into her South Yarra home on Tuesday night and demanded a safe.

When she told him the house did not have one, the man allegedly tied her up with electric blanket and phone charger cords before stealing her black BMW coupe and $10 from her wallet.

He was arrested on Friday morning after a pursuit in Melbourne's southeast in what police believe was the stolen BMW.

The woman was not injured.

A 49-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries.
