FIRST ON 7: Sea World staff have revealed some surprising details about the private life of their newest star.

7News was given an exclusive behind the scenes look at Queensland's baby polar bear.

At just four-months-old, Henry is hugely popular. The baby polar bear is now fearless in the pool and much more steady on his feet.

Chelsea Vendy makes Henry's meals.

"Sometimes I like to turn on the radio and have a sing along as I pack the polar bear lunch," she said.

All the staff love to hear "the helicopter".

"It's just like no other noise we've ever heard before and it's every time he feeds so if we are making food or doing records and we hear this little helicopter noise, it's like ah, Henry is having a feed, all is good in polar bear world," Ms Vendy said.

"Out the back (Henry) gets his sooky little polar bear cub face and when he wants a feed everyone knows about it.

"Liya (Henry’s mum) knows about it, we know about it, everyone in the building knows about it, he'll just whinge and cry and whinge and cry and it just gets louder and louder."

Every morning after his post breakfast nap, Henry is let out of a steel door, past a big rock and then he's free to roam in his $1.5 million playground.

The Polar Bear Shores crew load it up with half a tonne of ice each day.

Chelsea gets to hide the food and pick the toys.

"Every day we make it a little bit different. So some days we'll encourage him into the water," she said.

The trick is keeping him out.
