House fire explosions rock Woodville North

Firefighters have been treated for smoke inhalation after a blaze at Woodville North, in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

Frank Ladas, 75, was the only person at the Sheridan St home at the time and said he was welding when the blaze began.

Neighbours heard multiple explosions and rushed to his aid as smoke blanketed the suburb.

One told 7News he heard the first blast from inside his home.

“I heard an explosion, sounded like a gunshot… and I went out the front and seen all the smoke," he said.

“When I got out to have a look there was another explosion.”

Another said: “The house just started going up in flames and it was exploding.”

Desperate firefighters used chainsaws to access the backyard.

Paramedics treated some of them for smoke inhalation, but no one was injured in the fire.
