Body found in Blue Mountains

A body has reportedly been found in the Blue Mountains near where a man went missing six weeks ago.

An ambulance helicopter crew on a training flight spotted it this afternoon below Sublime Point at Leura.

23-year-old Gary Tweddle disappeared from the nearby Fairmont Resort after a dinner with workmates.

Police will launch a retrieval operation tomorrow morning.

Gary Tweddle has been lost in bushland since July after going missing at a work conference.

The 23-year-old sales rep was staying at the Fairmont Resort, Leura, and was last heard from in the early hours when he called colleagues to tell them he was lost in bushland but could see a light up a hill.

According to police, the call went for 17 minutes and there were four people huddled around the loud speaker of the phone trying to figure out where he was.

The search mission turned into a recovery operation after 10 days when countless searches failed to find him.
