Union plans to meet with Holden executives

Workers union plans to meet Holden executives as early as next week over blueprint for Elizabeth.

The Manufacturing Workers Union is planning to meet with Holden executives as early as next week to map out a blueprint for the Elizabeth plant.

Members held a two-hour meeting this afternoon, hoping Holden will endorse a seven-point plan, which includes opening the company’s books to fine-tune operation costs.

“The feeling among workers is not very clear in regards to frustration - in regards to what the company really wants - they’re not getting the right message from the company,” John Camillo from the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union said.

While 400 redundancies are still being finalized – the union said 500 workers had put their hands up, but it believes many are looking to jump before they are pushed.
