Police probe attempted murder on Brisbane bikeway

Queensland Police are attempting to locate a man who allegedly shot another man with an arrow on a Brisbane bikeway on Sunday evening.

The 51-year-old victim, who was sleeping on the bikeway at the time of the attack, awoke a short time later on at a nearby convenience store and called police to report the crime.

Doctors performed emergency surgery at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, and police say the man is now in a stable condition.

The archer, who was riding his push bike armed with a bow and arrows, is described as being of Caucasian appearance and aged in his 20s.

Police say he was carrying a black duffle bag.
