Mason Lee taken for McDonald's at 3am while suffering illness in days before death

Little Mason Lee was taken to McDonald’s for burgers at 3am, instead of the hospital, in the days before his death, a court has heard.

The toddler was only 21-months-old when he was found dead inside his stepfather’s Caboolture home, north of Brisbane.

The Courier Mail reports Mason Jet Lee had been been vomiting for days before he was seen on CCTV footage returning home from McDonald’s, early in the morning on June 7.

Mason Lee was reportedly taken to McDonald's at 3am for dinner in the days before he died.

Ryan Hodson, one of the three charged over the toddler’s death, was heard instructing him: “Come on c*** you walk like a spastic.”

“Hurry up and grab your f***ing bottle. Mason, get here if you want your f***ing bottle.”

Hodson was denied bail on Monday, he was deemed an unacceptable flight risk.

Caboolture court heard Hodson had been living in the same house as Mason and had refused to get the little boy medical help ‘on multiple occasions’.

It's alleged the accused refused to help Mason seek medical attention.

It was alleged Hodson told one person who expressed concern about Mason to “f*** your mouth up, it’s not your business, it’s not our problem.”

He also allegedly said he wouldn’t help Mason to seek medical attention because he “wasn’t his child”.

CCTV captured Hodson allegedly verbally abusing Mason three times before his death.

Prosecutor Aaron Murray said Mason had suffered widespread injuries.

Mason's mother and stepfather have been charged with manslaughter.

He claimed while there was no allegation Hodson had physically abused Mason, he clearly showed ‘no care, compassion or consideration’.

He suggested Hodson remain in custody for his own protection, given the media coverage of the case.

Hodson will appear in the same court on September 28.

Child protection agencies were reportely aware of Mason.

The Courier Mail claims he had suffered a ruptured bowel, an anal tear, nappy rash and a broken leg in the months before his death.

Earlier this week Mason’s mother, Anne-Maree Lee was refused bail.

It was revealed Lee was sent a text message by Mason’s stepfather, William Andrew O'Sullivan, which showed the boy in bed with ‘volumes of vomit’.

The photo was allegedly taken one day before the child died.

O'Sullivan and Lee are also charged with manslaughter over the death.

The text messages were allegedly debating who should be the one to take Mason to a doctor.

Last Monday, Lee was remanded in custody when she faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

It was heard she was in an allegedly abusive relationship but had planned to leave.

It was alleged her partner had refused her access to see her child.

Magistrate Graham Lee said the case against Lee was ‘very serious’ and found there was unacceptable risk of her not appearing at future court dates.

Mason’s stepfather also remains in custody after he didn’t apply for bail in Brisbane Magistrate’s Court.

Police claim the three accused failed to provide Mason with medical treatment despite his injuries.

It’s alleged Mason died as a result of inflammation from a ruptured small intestine.
