Bloodied and used band-aid found inside pie in QLD pastry store

Photographs have emerged of what is believed to be a "blood-filled, used bandaid" that was purchased from a bakery north of Brisbane.

Brandon James-Lee Humphreys posted two photos to Facebook revealing the disgusting find inside of what appears to be an unfortunately flavoured pie.

Mr Humphreys said he found the 'bloody and used band-aid' inside of the pie he purchased at CJ's Pasteries located in Caboolture.

"This is why you don't buy food from Caboolture, the well known CJ's Pastries across from Caboolture Station is somewhere I won't be going again after I had found a blood-filled, used bandaid in my pie this morning!" the post read.

Darrin Wells, the owner of CJ's Pasteries told Yahoo7 that they are “devastated by the incident".

"We are devastated and blown away by the situation that has occurred because we have procedures set in place," Mr Wells said.

Mr Wells said employees are enforced to wear blue band-aids when "incidents occur" and claims nothing like this has happened before.

"The business has been running for 23 years and I cannot remember anything happening like this in the past," he said.

The owner also added that the incident has heightened the intensity of individuals within the team and he is making sure it "would never happen again".

Mr Wells is unsure of where and who the band-aid came from claiming nobody had any injuries around this time.

"We are not positive of the source of it and we haven’t been able to isolate a person who had an injury at this time".

He also said the manager sat down with Mr Humphreys and his father when they arrived back to the store to complain, but Mr Wells wasn't present.

"I have tried to phone the gentleman since and was unable to get on to him," Mr Wells said.

Mr Wells said he was contacted by the health department and have discussions at a production and retail level adding that things are "being tested".

Yahoo7 also contacted the North Queensland Metro Public Health Unit and are awaiting a response to the matter.

The post on Facebook has been shared almost 2000 times and has received over 500 comments, leaving locals and Facebook users outraged and "gagging".

One woman believes someone needs to be "sacked" over the incident.

"Some bloody staff member needs to be sacked for it. Stay home wit any kinda of cuts or use a proper covering for the wound," she wrote.

"That's why you use blue bandaids in hospo(sic)!!! Gloves over them to prevent falling off. If it were blue it would have been seen straight away!" another wrote.

Another woman questions why the company aren't using blue bandaids.

"Only problem is blue bandaids are used in the food industry that's a fact. It does not look blue to me what about anyone else," she said.
But the most striking comment of all has come from Cam Kowitz, who claims he had suffered from food poisoning after eating at the bakery.

"Yep , I have had food poisoning from CJs in Caboolture .... Never going back !!!" Mr Kowitz wrote.

Others say Mr Humphreys should sue the bakery for the gross finding.

"F*** off that's so disgusting I dry gagged f****** sue them bro get some $$$," Aidan Kys said.

"So what is CJs doing about it I hope you went to health authorities with it I hate CJs refuse to go there to any of there stores," Glenys Wallace Galea wrote.

Just last month, 150 people admitted themselves to hospital in northern Sydney after they were struck down by food poisoning in an outbreak that forced health authorities to shut down a Sutherland Shire bakery.
