Surveillance footage has shown the moments before the death of an unarmed football player in Texas.

The footage, released by ABC News (US) shows Christian Taylor, 19, walking around car dealership, Classic Buick GMC, parking lot on August 7.

The video shows a Jeep Cherokee pulling up to the dealership's gate barriers just before 1 am. Taylor can be seen getting out of the car, walking over to the gate barrier before walking off into the dealership parking lot.

He then walks over to the cars on display and appears to try to open some of the doors.

The video cuts to him wandering over to a vehicle, and attempting to bash both the front window and windscreen open.

Taylor is seen being able to slip into the car through the windscreen and start it.

Once he starts the car, Taylor walks out of the front door and back to the parking lot.
