Man trapped after head-on smash

A man in his sixties has been airlifted to hospital following a horror head-on crash at Balnarring.

Police say a car towing a caravan collided with an oncoming vehicle on the Bittern-Dromana Road at around 2.45pm.

It took rescue crews more than an hour to free one driver after his car rolled down an embankment.

The man, believed to be in his sixties, was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition, with several broken bones and chest injuries.

The other driver, also in his sixties, was taken by road ambulance to the Frankston Hospital in a stable condition.
