Couple pulled from car after driving into lake during lesson
A couple have been pulled from their car after a driving lesson went horrible wrong and they ended up in a lake.
Police said a family were inside the vehicle that ended up in the water near Verandah Cafe in Hamilton around 12.30pm on Thursday.
Two men jumped into Lake Rotoroa and swam to the car, bringing the woman back to shore, according to reports.
A bystander told Fairfax Media that she believed a man in his 40s was teaching his wife to drive when the car went over the lake path and into the water.
"The red car is submerged, completely under water," she said.
Emergency services also attended.
