'Dazed and confused': Woman brutally bashed during alleged domestic violence assault on Gold Coast

Police are investigating the brutal assault of a 25-year-old woman at Broadbeach Waters on the Gold Coast on Thursday morning.

The woman allegedly was taken from her home at 7.45am by a man and transported in a vehicle to a second location.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a gun and the 25-year-old's head being bashed against the dash board of the vehicle.

Neighbours also reported seeing the man 'drag' the woman in his vehicle, sparking initial fears of a possible abduction.

At around 8am police received reports of a woman being assaulted by a man during a disturbance in Ensenada Court.

7 News understand the victim was returned to her home by a Gold Coast City Council garbage truck driver and appeared 'dazed and confused'.

“Oh she looked like she was in a bad way and I thought I would get her off the street and help her out,” the truck driver told 7 News.

“She was trying to find her way home, so once I saw the police I thought, well, something’s happened.”

There were also reports shots were fired at the scene, however, there were no casings found at the scene.

Police have since stated there is no evidence of firearm at this stage of the investigation.

The man who committed the alleged assault is believed to be known to the victim.

The woman sustained severe facial injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

Initial reports stated police were investigating an alleged abduction.

Police investigations are continuing.
