While many in Australia consider the birds a destructive pest, there is no denying they are capable of putting on some amazing aerial displays.

Known as a murmuration, experts are split on why the birds flock together in such large numbers. The birds' numbers can swell into the tens and even hundreds of thousands.

Many believe the groupings occur in an effort to stay warm, which may explain why the displays become more common in the autumn months.

Mother Nature has provided Yahoo7 with more striking videos from across the globe.
