'Make Roads Safe' spokeswoman has car crash while recording video selfie

Video of a UK pop singer and face of the 'Make Roads Safe' campaign has surfaced in which she and two friends crash their car while singing in a video selfie.

Azerbaijan-born Nigar 'Nikki' Jamal had her run-in with irony in the video posted on YouTube on July 15.

Without a seatbelt on, Jamal was in the back seat of the car as she and two friends in the front seats filmed as they bopped their heads to the music while cruising down the road near Besh Barmag in the Caucasus.

The fun suddenly stopped and the music was drowned out by screams as the driver lost control and dropped the phone from her hand.

Loud thumps are heard amid the crushing of glass and steel.

Despite her role as a safe roads ambassador for the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, Jamal had no apologies for her behavior.

"Police told us that this road is really so dangerous. God kept us safe that's why we are ok now," Jamal said after the accident.

When Jamal released a video in 2012 to support the UN's Decade of Action for Road Safety she wrote on Facebook: "Please wear your seat belt and never let your love-ones die on the roads!"
