Former Hawthorn prospect Dayle Garlett has been told he is likely to receive a jail term after he changed a number of not-guilty pleas to guilty in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court last week.

Magistrate Donna Webb made the comment when Garlett, 21, appeared by video from Hakea prison to face charges laid in Perth suburbs, Greenough and Geraldton between November and February.

Garlett had previously pleaded guilty to stealing $51 of petrol from a service station in Forrestfield on November 14, and to possession of amphetamine and driving a motor vehicle and exceeding the speed limit by 45 km/h at Greenough on November 17.

Last week, Garlett pleaded guilty to stealing a $40 pair of trousers from Target Geraldton on February 19, stealing a Hyundai Getz from Middle Swan and failing to stop on January 14, stealing another motor vehicle from a Caversham address on November 13, and reckless driving at Caversham on November 14 and 17.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving to escape pursuit at Beechboro on November 14 as well as exceeding the speed limit by 45 km/h or more at Leschenault on November 14.

Garlett was remanded in custody for a pre-sentence report on July 8.
