More awards in can for Margs brewer
Colonial Brewing Company won awards for its beer can designs at the Australian International Beer Awards last Thursday.
The Margaret River brewery won gold in the packaging and design category for its #1 Draught can and silver for its Small Ale can at the Melbourne ceremony.
Colonial head brewer Paul Wyman said the brewers hedged their bets on the Small Ale for the gold medal but were happy with the results.
"It's awesome the cans are getting that recognition," he said. Colonial head of brewing operations Justin Fox said the brewery was running at maximum capacity.
"We've removed a bit of supply to Victoria to help meet demand," he said.
Mr Fox said there was talk of opening another brewery in the Eastern States, although nothing had yet been confirmed.
The Draught ale can was launched in November in time for the Margaret River Gourmet Escape, while the Small Ale can was released in February for the Emergence Creative festival.
