Lawyer sues school after son hurt in game of 'chasey'

A Melbourne lawyer is suing his son's school for negligence after he tripped and fell head first into a wall while playing a game of 'chasey' during a PE lesson.

Frank Cetrola is seeking compensation claiming his son suffered mouth injuries in the accident that will require long-term medical treatment.

He has filed a statement of claim on his son's behalf in the County Court against the Catholic Education Commission, operators of Finbar's Parish and Primary School in Brighton East.

He is alleging the school was negligent in allowing pupils to take part in a game of 'bee-sting chasey' during a physical education class in May 2012.

According to the documents, the boy, now 10, requires regular reviews of injuries to his teeth, a root canal, and possibly the removal of two teeth, News Corp reports.

The Catholic Education Commission has reportedly paid up to $7500 for the boy's medical expenses but the family is also claiming damages for future expenses.

It is claimed the boy may need psychological treatment.

Mr Cetrola and the school declined to comment when contacted by News Corp.
