Businesses recognised at awards night
The winners of the 2015 Best of Kununurra Awards have been announced with more than a dozen local businesses recognised for their excellence.
Run by Spirit Radio and Red FM, the awards called on people to vote for their favourite local businesses across a range of categories.
They included best accommodation, which was this year taken out by Home Valley Station, best hair salon (The Hair and Beauty Retreat) and best breakfast (Wild Mango).
The winners were presented with their awards at a ceremony at Kununurra Country Club on Tuesday night.
The Hair and Beauty Retreat also claimed best beauty and spa and Wild Mango best coffee, while Kimberley Green Constructions (best builder), Lake Argyle Resort & Caravan Park (best caravan and camping park) and Argyle Engineering (best engineering business) also picked up gongs.
Ever-popular eateries The Pumphouse Restaurant & Bar (best restaurant) and Kimberley Asian Cuisine (best takeaway) were also recognised while Kimberley Moon Experience (best local event) and Gulliver's Tavern (best live entertainment venue) claimed their categories.
Other winners were The Bangle Business (best fashion boutique), Kimberley Fine Diamonds (best jewellery shop), Betta Home Living Kununurra (best retailer), Artopia Gallery (best gallery), Addicted Studio (best sports club), Tyreplus Kununurra (best tyre and wheel alignment) and Kununurra 4WD Spares (best mechanic).
Iconic local tourist operator Triple J Tours also added another prize to its huge collection of awards over the years, claiming best tours/tourist attraction.
Redwave Media accounts executive Claudia Amiet, who organised the awards, congrat- ulated the winners on being recognised by the public for their excellence.
Ms Amiet said the Best of Kununurra Awards were always hotly contested and would be back again in 2016.
