Blaze destroys Broome house

A Broome home was destroyed by fire today.

Firefighters were called to the Kapang Drive property in Cable Beach about 11.55am following reports of smoke coming from the roof.

When crews arrived the roof of the home was engulfed in flames and the blaze had spread quickly throughout the house.

Firefighters were forced to protect nearby homes as the fire ripped through the house.

They brought the fire under control in about an hour.

It is not known whether anyone was inside the home at the time of the fire starting but a DFES spokeswoman said no one was injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
