Police hunting three men over Rodney Scarman murder

NSW Police have released two CCTV images of men they want to talk to in connection with a grisly murder in 2011.

The body of Rodney Scarman, 52, was found inside the electrical cupboard of a unit block on Walker Street, Waterloo, at about 4.30am on Boxing Day that year.

Mr Scarman, who lived at the unit block and was last seen alive a few hours prior, had suffered extensive injuries.

Detectives from Redfern Local Area Command, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, formed Strike Force Brissett to investigate Mr Scarman’s death and have conducted extensive inquiries in the three years since.

The Acting Commander of Redfern Local Area Command, Acting Superintendent Sam Crisafulli, said detectives are still eager to here from local residents who may have information about Mr Scarman’s death.

Acting Superintendent Crisafulli said: “As we’ve said before, we believe Mr Scarman’s death is probably drug-related and that those responsible may very well have been living in the local area.

“We would like to thank the people who have come forward with information in recent weeks, and encourage more people to do the same.
