Designer furniture stolen from resort

The Pearle general manager Paul Coggan is offering a reward to help catch the thieves responsible for stealing $4000 worth of furniture like the wicker sun chair and coffee table shown in this photo.

A local resort operator is offering a luxurious reward to help catch the thieves responsible for stealing about $4000 worth of designer furniture.

Five-star resort The Pearle of Cable Beach was targeted by crooks on February 8 when they entered the premises and stole outdoor items from the resort's pool area.

Police said Bali Hai Resort was also targeted on the same weekend.

A week earlier, in an unrelated incident, offenders broke into The Pearle reception and made off with cash and jewellery.

In this latest incident, general manager Paul Coggan said criminals had pinched a number of items including four black wicker sun chairs with slate-grey cushions, a 1200mm-diameter round black coffee table with a glass top and two 1200mm x 400mm black wicker coffee tables with glass tops.

He said the Cane-line furniture was distinct in its features, particularly the black wicker sun chairs.

Mr Coggan appealed for the public's help in the matter, and offered a generous reward.

"A weekend holiday at the Pearle Resort will be offered to the person that provides police with the best information that leads to a conviction and the returning of our furniture." he said. "Please don't let these types of low-lives give our beautiful town a bad name.

"They don't belong here and the sooner we catch them and others like them, the better."

The operator said he would now have to fork out money to install CCTV cameras.

Broome police Senior Sergeant Brendon Barwick said the matter was still under investigation. Anyone with information should call Broome police on 9194 0200 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
