Happs event a family affair

Happs Winery's Australia Day concert is set to be a family affair when Kelly Newton-Wordsworth and her tribe of singers take to the stage, joined by local talent Marnie Fulton.

International acclaimed singer/songwriter Kelly Newton-Wordsworth will bring her musical tribe to Dunsborough for the Australia Day weekend.

The WA singer will headline at Happs Winery for the family concert, along with special guests, Aboriginal performers, Mort Hansen and Josie Boyle and local talent Marnie Fulton, Rowan Disley, Sean Lillico and the Weiss family.

The concert and BYO picnic will celebrate Australia and the importance of family and community.

Newton-Wordsworth, who sings with her son Vincent, daughters Tara and Grace and husband William, said she came up with the idea for the concert with Happs Winery owners Ros and Earl Happ.

"We did the film clip for my song For the Love of Flowers at Happs Winery in Ros and Earl's beautiful garden and since then we have stayed in touch," she said.

"When we were filming the clip, we had local artists bring their families down and we all sang together, so the idea to have a concert together came from that."

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Kambarang, an event which encourages Aboriginal culture in the South West.

The family-friendly event will kick off from 5pm on Sunday, January 25 at Happs Winery.

Families are asked to bring their own picnic food, but wine and cool drinks will be available.

Family tickets are available for $50, Adults $20 and children $10.
