Man faces court on tradie knife-wounding charge

A 51-year-old man accused of slashing the wrist of a tradesman with a knife after mistaking him for a robber has been bailed to appear on March 19.

Yi Tang is facing a charge of unlawful wounding arising from an incident about 10.35pm in Marine Terrace, Geraldton, on January 6.

Police allege he was working at a shop, mistook the 35-year-old tradesman for a robber and slashed his wrist with a knife, causing serious injury.

The tradesman had to be taken to hospital.

Mr Tang was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court this morning.

His next court appearance is March 19.
