SA koalas need a helping hand

The Adelaide Koala and Wildlife Hospital is looking for hand-made donations to help furry patients injured in the Hills bushfire.

They are asking for cotton mittens so they can cover bandages put on the burnt paws of koalas.

"The treatment for burns in a koala is very similar to the treatment of burns in a human being," the organisation's Jilea Carney said.

"It's a regime of infection control, applying burns cream, bandages."

It is hoped most of the koalas will make a full recovery.
