Shields at ease with Cruise rant
Actress *Brooke Shields *has opened up about her reconciliation with *Tom Cruise *, * *calling his apology "genuine" after the actor had criticised her over her use of medication to treat postpartum depression.
Cruise came under fire in 2005 when he stated in numerous interviews that Shields, below, was being "irresponsible" for using psychotropic drugs after giving birth.
He told US news show Access Hollywood at the time: "I care about Brooke Shields, because she's extremely talented - and you think where has her career gone?
"What you can do with vitamins and exercise to help with that - she doesn't know what these drugs are."
Shields has now revealed the Mission Impossible star did later personally apologise to her.
"He did reach out and I told him . . . but I wasn't mad at him because he did himself in," Shields says.
"I knew what he was trying to do, he just went about it the wrong way."
Cruise's bizarre rant came shortly after his famous couch-jumping incident on The *Oprah Winfrey *Show in which he declared his love for then-girlfriend *Katie Holmes *.
