Daniel John's guilty plea

Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns has pleaded guilty in a Newcastle court to a mid-range drink-driving charge.

Johns blew 0.126 when he was pulled over by police last month.

Police facts tendered to court yesterday said police noticed Johns' black Jaguar travelling between 70km/h and 80km/h, where the speed limit was 50km/h, on October 28.

Johns reportedly told police he had had four large wines between 4.30pm and 7.40pm.

"In the opinion of police the accused was moderately affected by intoxicating liquor when he was stopped by police," the facts sheet said.

"His eyes were watery and bloodshot and he smelt heavily of intoxicating liquor."

The 35-year-old rock star has been ordered to undergo a traffic-offenders program and is due to reappear in court on February 26.
