Marina a boost for Augusta

Politicians and dignitaries will boost the population of Augusta for the official launch of its new marina.

The tourism association has hailed the new $36.4 million harbour for boosting seagoing visits to the region.

“The new harbour will undoubtedly further improve accessibility and increase destination awareness of Augusta and the Margaret River region, and we are delighted to celebrate its successful completion,” Augusta-Margaret River Tourism Association chief executive Pip Close said.

Organisers said the “world class” working harbour would cater to the growing commercial and recreational fleet in the area, while also opening Flinders Bay and surrounds to tourists.

The AMRTA previously pitched a plan for cruise ships to include Augusta as a stop, but lost out to the Busselton Jetty.
