Firearms seized in Northam raid

Five firearms and ammunition plus other allegedly stolen items have been seized from a property east of Northam today.

Police said the Grass Valley property was searched as a result of inquiries into the theft of firearms and other items in the area.

During a search of nearby bushland, it is alleged officers recovered a "Gator" all-terrain vehicle worth $15,000 that had been stolen from a Northam business.

An off-road motorcycle and motorcycle trailer allegedly stolen from a burglary on a rural property in Northam on Monday were also recovered from the bushland.

Police allege that four of the firearms seized from the premises were linked to the burglary on the rural property.

"Other property believed to be stolen was also seized pending further inquiries," police said.

Wheatbelt police and detectives charged a 28-year-old Grass Valley woman with one count each of receiving stolen property, possessing drug paraphernalia, possessing unlawfully obtained property, failing to ensure the safe keeping of ammunition and possessing a prohibited drug.

The woman is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

Police said they had also questioned other men and inquiries would continue.
