An obese woman has been charged with rape after allegedly breaking into a man's apartment, pinning him down and forcing herself onto him while he was sleeping.

The victim, 31, told police he woke up with 110kg Chantae Gilman on top of him, with his arms pinned down and her forcing herself onto him, reported the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Gilman, 28, refused to stop raping the man and told him to be quiet, but he successfully managed to get out from under her and flee his apartment.

A sexual assault examination found Gilman's DNA on him.

Gilman told police she did not remember having sex with the man and that she was mentally ill.

She was charged with second-degree rape.

The Seattle man did not know his attacker, but recognised her as a "drug user in the area".

Gilman reportedly knew one of the victim’s neighbours in the same apartment building.
