Manly beach gets the blues

Local ocean photographer Saltmotion has captured an amazing sight at Manly beach in Sydney as breaking waves turned blue.

Experts say it is most likely caused by a type of algae, which typically blooms in spring

Under the right conditions the algae will emit a blue glow when agitated - such as when a wave breaks. It is called bio-luminescence.
