New police on Manji streets

There are some new faces at the Manjimup Police Station and they are looking forward to making their mark in the region.

First Const. Robyn Layton-Girvan and Probationary Const. James Griffiths have each been working at Manjimup Police Station for less than a month.

Const. Layton-Girvan has come from eight months at the Bridgetown Police Station and Const. Griffiths graduated from the Police academy in January.

Const. Griffiths said he would take things as they came and he looked forward to learning a lot from a country posting.

“In the time that I’ve been in Manjimup, it’s been good so far, ” he said.

“I wanted to come to the country early in my career so I could get some experience in different areas of policing.

Const. Layton-Girvan said she wanted to get as much experience as possible during her time in Manjimup.

Before she was at Bridgetown Police Station, Const. Layton-Girvan spent six years at Esperance Police Station.

“The people here are great to work with, ” Const. Layton-Girvan said.

“There is certainly a big scenery difference between here and Esperance, but Manjimup is an interesting town with a lot of history.”

Const. Layton-Girvan said she was looking forward to the broad range of jobs she would be able to do while posted in Manjimup.

Const. Griffiths said he was looking forward to becoming part of the community.
