Predator targets Sydney's northern beaches

Women on Sydney's northern beaches are urged to be vigilant after a spate of indecent and sexual assaults.

Four women were targeted on separate occasions while walking the streets and they have given very similar descriptions of their attacker.

On June 21, a woman was walking through Balgowlah just after midnight when she was tapped on the shoulder by a hooded stranger.

The man then indecently assaulted her.

In similar circumstances, a woman was walking on Sydney Road at Fairlight on July 2 when she was indecently assaulted, and another woman was targeted on Birkley Road at Manly a week later.

Another woman has told police she was walking through Fairlight in the early morning and noticed a man following her.

However, he disappeared when a car pulled up next to her.

The offender involved in all incidents is described as Caucasian with a skinny build and wearing a dark hooded jacket.

A police strike force has been set up to investigate the assaults and officers carried out a letterbox drop in the Manly area this month.

The leaflets warned the assaults were not limited to side streets or days of the week.

In the latest attack, which police believe is not linked to the indecent assaults, a jogger was set upon in nearby Dee Why.

The 35-year-old woman was jogging along a track on Sunday night when she heard a man yell out to her.

Police say she kept running but the man pushed her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.

The man is described as having a solid build with thick wavy hair.
