Rooting out source of vandalism

The City of Busselton is offering a $500 reward for information about vandals who uprooted 100 seedlings at the foreshore.
City of Busselton chief executive Mike Archer offered the reward to any person who provided information leading to the successful conviction of vandals who pulled seedlings from the ground at the east Busselton foreshore between Mann Street and Russell Street at the weekend.
He said the act of vandalism had destroyed three years of dune restoration and revegetation with local native species, which protects the dunes from coastal erosion.
“This sort of activity has an obvious environmental impact and seriously undermines the work being done with so many community participants,” Mr Archer said.
“This illegal activity will not be condoned and I urge people who may have witnessed the act to contact the City’s Compliance Officer on 08 9781 0444.”
