Manhunt for Clavell continues after school raids

Star Group Officers grid-searched Pulteney Grammar School today hunting for "dangerous" fugitive Rodney Ian Clavell, forcing two schools into lockdown.

Police moved through the playground checking every potential hiding spot while the police chopper hovered above just before midday.

Parents were sent a text message alerting them to the police presence and search, some arriving at the school in concern for their children.

Workers downed tools at a neighbouring construction site as the police combed through each building.

Gilles street primary was also searched as well as the south parklands.

The former prison guard is wanted for offences including firearm matters.

A warrant was issued for Clavell's arrest on Tuesday.

In 2004, he used a 12-tonne grader to flee from police.

He was shot twice and tasered by STAR Group officers after that 46km chase through the Adelaide Hills.

Police on Wednesday raided two houses in suburban Skye, after intelligence suggested Clavell may be at the addresses and possibly armed. He was not located.

Superintendent Peter Harvey on Thursday said the search will continue for Clavell, whom he described as "very dangerous".
