Snap Fitness Geraldton is celebrating its first birthday with the launch of Born to Move, a new children’s fitness program, at its open day tomorrow.

Les Mills Born to Move is a 45 minute class for 8-12 year olds which combines dance, martial arts and yoga.

Group fitness manager Michelle Ralph said it was a fun, non-competitive program for children to “bust out their moves” and learn about the enjoyments of fitness and exercise.

“We identified a real gap in the market for a program designed specifically for children who want to participate in a fun, fitness-related activity but may not be attracted to, or feel comfortable participating in team or individual sport.

“We want to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle from a young age, so as they mature it becomes second nature,” she said.

Ms Ralph said it was an exciting addition to Snap Fitness’ group fitness program.

Born to Move will run from Monday to Thursday at 3:30pm.

Everyone is invited to attend Saturday’s open day for a free trial of Snap Fitness Geraldton’s Les Mills group fitness programs.

RPM, Body Step, CX WORX, Grit Cardio and Born to Move will run as 30, 45 and 60 minute classes, starting at 7am.

There will also be a Born to Move class at 3:30pm on Sunday and the whole first week of the new children’s program is free to all participants.

Spirit 98.1 FM will be broadcasting live from Snap Fitness and there will also be a sausage sizzle, face-painting, a birthday cake. The Geraldton Buccaneers will be hosting children’s games and activities.
