Fremantle cruise boom

Princess Cruises will sail three 2000-capacity ships from Fremantle for a year from this month.

The ships will carry as many as 45,000 passengers in total to and from the city, adding $20 million to the local economy, the firm's vice-president Australia and New Zealand, Stuart Allison, said.

Dawn Princess and Sea Princess will embark on 12 itineraries from Fremantle between this month and October to destinations including Margaret River , Bali, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Sun Princess, which recently underwent a multimillion-dollar refit that has given it new restaurants and a health spa, will sail on 11 cruises with destinations including India, South Africa and Mauritius between November 2015 and March 2016.
