Sweet buns to help raise funds for hospital

Bakers Delight Geraldton store owner Andrew Golding said the bakery was happy to get onboard this weekend and raise funds for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

Bakers Delight bakeries across Western Australia will pump out more than 90,000 hot cross buns at this weekend’s Bundraiser Day.

All Bakers Delight bakeries in WA will donate $1 from every sixpack of hot cross buns sold in a bid to raise $30,000 for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

The money will go towards purchasing a BiPAP ventilator machine for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

The BiPAP ventilator helps a child breathe while they are in hospital. Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation chief executive officer Denys Pearce said she was thankful for the support offered by the WA community.

“We are grateful for the continued support shown by the community and Bakers Delight to raise funds and help us provide families with vital services and equipment,” she said.

Getting behind the cause this year is Geraldton’s own Bakers Delight. Bakers Delight Geraldton store owner Andrew Golding said the cause was one the store was happy to get behind.

“Princess Margaret Hospital does such a fantastic job looking after sick kids and the PMH Foundation is something Bakers Delight has supported for a long time now,” he said.

“It’s important for us to all do our part as a community.

“It’s so good for us to be able to do our part and help out with something so worthwhile and our team always get really into it.”

Bakers Delight regional manager Geoff Elias said the popular Easter season was a perfect time to raise funds and get the community involved.

“Easter is by far our busiest time of the year, so it’s a great opportunity to give back to the hospital and make a difference to the lives of children,” he said.

To get involved visit the Bakers Delight store on Saturday, April 5, and purchase any six-pack of hot cross buns.
