Police divers recover body of man missing in Vic lake

Police divers have recovered the body of a Victorian man who disappeared when he jumped into a lake to retrieve his boat.

The Box Hill man aged in his 50s had apparently visited Lake Nillahcootie, north of Mansfield in the state’s northeast, for a day of fishing.

It is understood he put his boat in the water and when he went to park his car, his tinnie began to drift away from the shoreline.

He took off his clothes and swam after it.

There was a huge search from the air and on the water, but it wasn't until police divers began looking underwater that the man was found.
