Man charged over alleged East Perth rape

A 31-year-old man has been charged over the alleged rape of a woman in East Perth.

The 43-year-old woman was walking through Wellington Park at about 7.40pm on Friday when she was allegedly pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted.

The woman sought help from police officers who were on patrol in the area. The 31-year-old man was apprehended by police soon after.

He has been charged with sexual penetration without consent and will appear in Perth Magistrate's Court on December 2.
