Race to the end of the rainbow

Langley Park exploded with colour this morning for Perth’s “happiest” fun run.

Thousands flocked to the starting line of the Swisse Color Run on Riverside Drive at about 9am dressed in pristine white shirts.

By race end though, all participants were covered in a rainbow of hues.

The 5km run features several ‘colour stations’ where participants are showered with colour as they progress through.

The Color Run Australia national manager Luke Hannan said the race was not about running a personal best or winning, it was about connecting with family and friends.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the colour back to WA after the reception the people of Perth gave us back in February,” he said.

Ballajura resident Alison Morris, 18, participated in the run for the first time with a group of friends.

“It didn’t even feel like 5km because we were having so much fun,” she said.

The global event is inspired by the Hindu Holi festival, a tradition welcoming Spring.
