Busy night for the Dog Squad

Police took full advantage of the Dog Squad overnight, as the police pooches rounded up four suspects in separate incidents.

At about 8pm, the squad attended a two-car crash in Marmion where a driver of one of the vehicles had fled.

Police Dog Gypsy was sent to work and a 19-year-old man was found about 750m away at a bus stop.

An ambulance was called and the teen was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital to be checked.

At 12.20am, police in Beaufort Street, Inglewood, spotted a vehicle speeding.

The car was found abandoned on Arthur Street soon after and the dog squad was called.

Police Dog Frisk tracked down two people nearby who are believed to have been passengers in the car.

A third person spotted running from the area was apprehended with help from the police helicopter.

He was taken into custody and summonsed to appear in court for exceeding the 0.08 blood alcohol level.

An hour later Frisk was back at work in Noranda responding to a burglary.

Two offenders were being chased up the street by a resident on Callaghan Way but Frisk ultimately located a man in the front garden of a house in Weatherill Way.

The 21-year-old man was taken into custody.
