Gas leak after car ploughs into house

Neighbouring residents were evacuated after a car smashed into a house and opened a gas leak in Marangaroo last night.

Just after 9.20pm, a Mitsubishi Verada left the road and hit a brick and tile home on Kearney Way.

It is believed no one was home at the time.

Firefighters said a third of the car was lodged inside the house, but the driver escaped unharmed.

The impact of the crash caused a gas leak, prompting police to evacuate three neighbouring houses.

Residents were forced to wait for utility workers to arrive to shut down the gas and electricity.

SES volunteers then stabilised the damaged house with props.

A 27-year-old Ballajura man will be summonsed for careless driving.
