Men charged over northern suburbs pursuits

UPDATE: A man has been charged over an incident involving motorcycles in Malaga last night.

Patrolling officers noticed two motorcycles allegedly travelling together at high speed on Beach Road and attempted to pull them over on Marshall Road about 10.20pm.

Police said the riders allegedly failed to stop and the officers engaged in a pursuit but were forced to abort for safety reasons.

It is alleged that shortly later, one of the motorcycles was spotted as the rider attempted to cross a sand median strip but lost control and dropped the bike.

Kiara Police Officers - who were not involved in the pursuit - were driving past at the time and took the rider into custody.

A 19-year-old Gnangara man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failing to stop, having no authority to drive and unlawful possession.

He is due to appear in Midland Magistrate's Court on September 27.

A 21-year-old Balga man has been charged over an incident in Balga last night.

Police allege they spotted a Nissan Skyline travelling on Walderton Avenue at high speed about 9pm.

They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the man allegedly refused and a pursuit occurred.

The driver of the vehicle stopped on Findon Crescent because the car could no longer be driven with engine damage.

The man was taken into custody with a female passenger, who was released without being charged.

He has been charged with failing to stop and reckless driving, and is due to appear in court on September 17.
