Woman, 52, caught sitting an exam in place of her 19-year-old daughter

Police in the French city of Paris have reportedly detained a 52 year-old woman after she allegedly posed as her 19-year-old daughter and attempted to sit a baccalaureate English exam.

According to reports the woman dressed in youthful clothing, including a pair of Converse sneakers, heavy make-up and skinny jeans to attend the exam hall at a Paris high-school.

It is alleged the woman initially went undetected as the exam hall was not at her daughter's usual high school, and students of all ages are permitted to sit for the baccalaureate.

However one exam supervisor noticed a discrepancy between the woman and the face on her ID card as he recognised the daughter from an exam earlier that week.

The woman had reportedly completed two hours of the exam before plain-clothed police officers arrived to arrest her.

It is believed exam officials did not want to disrupt other students by causing a scene.

The baccalaureate is a multi-subject exam French students are required to pass in order to attend university.

The woman's 19-year-old daughter could face a potential five-year ban from sitting for national examinations.
