A student who was mugged by looters during the London riots has told of his ordeal, and how rioters as young as 11 were threatening to stab him.

Video of the attack on Mohammed Ashraf Haziq has spread across the world after it was posted on Youtube.

The video showed Malaysian-born Haziq at first seemingly being aided by people around him before they opened his backpack and stole from him.

He had been sitting on the ground after being punched by other rioters, the Daily Mail reported.

Haziq was filmed by a family friend telling of his harrowing experience.

"They threatened to stab me, they told me they had knives," he says in the video.

"Some of them were quite young, maybe still in primary school. They had their hoods on and demanded my bicycle."

Haziq had his wallet, phone and Playstation Portable stolen from him.

The 20-year-old's jaw was broken during the attack, and he's due to go into surgery at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, East London

He is also unable to eat property and being fed by a hospital drip after he lost some of his teeth in the attack.

Haziq only arrived in London a month ago to begin studying finance, and was cycling from his student accommodation when the mob approached him.

A friend he was with managed to escape but Haziq was cornered by the crowd of up to 50 and knocked to the ground before his bicycle was stolen.

The man who filmed the incident, Abdul Hamid, said he was too frightened to come to Haziq's assistance.

"I wanted to go down and help but I was terrified that I would get beaten up as well. There was about 50 or more of them," he said.

British Prime Minister David Cameron labelled the scenes that were erupting all over London as "disgusting".

"When we see children as young as 13, looting and laughing, when we see the disgusting sight of an injured young man with people pretending to help him while they are robbing him, it is clear that there are things that are badly wrong in our society," he said.
