Australian Open to be bigger and better than ever

The Grand Slam baton has been passed from Flushing Meadows to Melbourne ahead of the 2015 Australian Open.

The prestigious tournament is just under three months away and the countdown is on.

Event organisers have unveiled the new Margaret Court Arena, which features a new retractable roof.

Living legend Margaret Court made a surprise on-court appearance for the first match in the new arena, pairing up with Victorian Sports Minister Damian Drum for a hit of mixed doubles against teenage tennis sensation Nick Kyrgios and Australian Fed Cup representative Storm Sanders.

And Kyrgios received some valuable advice from the Australian tennis legend.

“She told me to visualise holding the trophy and that’s what she did before she actually won it,” Kyrgios said.

Court belives Kyrgios can win the Australian Open after taking down Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon.

“I said if you can beat the number one in the world then you can beat them all.”

The upcoming Australian Open is being touted as the biggest and best yet, with over $36 million dollars worth of prize money on offer.

The men’s and women’s winners will receive a record $3 million each.
