Kangaroo filmed dodging traffic

An Adelaide motorist has captured a video of an adventurous kangaroo hopping through traffic on a busy main road.

James Williams filmed the kangaroo hopping along in front of his car on Greenhill Rd before it dashed ahead of oncoming traffic and down a side street.

He said he was on his way to work when the roo jumped out in front of him.

“I pulled out and I almost hit something, and I was thinking ‘is it a cyclist or is it a person’, but no, it was a full-size kangaroo and it was jumping across the road, and going left to right,” he said.

“I was trying to keep it from traffic to keep it safe while capturing a little bit of it on my phone.

“I have had some good excuses for being late to work in the past which the boss doesn’t usually believe, but this time I had the footage to prove it, so it is pretty cool.”

He said he called police to let them know there was a danger on the road, but the elusive kangaroo managed to disappear.

“I was keen to message a couple of my mates in the US because they are going to have a laugh about it,” he said.

“It is the stereotype, it is what Australians as supposedly known for, having kangaroos on our road.

“I have always been the one saying ‘no, we don’t have kangaroos jumping on our road’, and I can’t say that anymore, because we do.”
